Car geeks, of which there are millions nationwide, are likely to be gathered around their television sets on Friday for the debut on the Velocity cable channel of “Garage Squad,” a new reality television series developed by Super Genius Chicago.
Super Genius is an eight-year-old hybrid advertising and entertainment production company founded by a trio of former Leo Burnett Chicago advertising executives, Bill Connell, Mat Burnett (no relation) and Craig Motlong.
Velocity, a cable channel that specializes in automotive-related programming, is owned by Discovery Communications.
Shot entirely on location in and around Chicago, “Garage Squad” tells the story of cars that have been sitting on blocks or in garages waiting to be rehabbed due to lack of money, time, skill or some combination of all three. In each weekly episode, a squad of automotive experts shows up to help get each car back on the road. (continue reading at Chicago Business Journal).
